Join the Portland’5 Centers for the Arts Department of Culture and Community for a conversation on culture, Diaspora, and intergenerational trauma with the author of “But What Will People Say?” and founder of Brown Girl Therapy, Sahaj Kaur Kohli.

Sahaj Kaur Kohli MA.Ed, LGPC, NCC is the founder of Brown Girl Therapy (@browngirltherapy), the first and largest mental health and wellness community organization for adult children of immigrants, a practicing therapist, a columnist for the Washington Post’s advice column "Ask Sahaj" and author of, "But What Will People Say: Navigating Mental Health, Identity, Love and Family Between Cultures."

Sahaj will be joined in conversation with somatic therapist T. Aisha Edwards.

The event will be followed by a book signing with Sahaj Kaur Kohli.

About Sahaj Kaur Kohli, MA.Ed, LGPC, NCC

With a 6+ year career in journalism under her belt, Sahaj's passion lies at the intersection of narrative storytelling and mental health advocacy.  Sahaj’s words and work have been featured in Today, Good Morning America, CNN, The New York Times, HuffPost, and others. Sahaj also serves as a consultant, educator and international speaker. She has sat on panels and delivered workshops and keynotes for The White House, Amazon, Google, Athenahealth, Merck, JPMorgan Chase, LinkedIn,  UNICEF, among others.

About T. Aisha Edwards, LMHC

T. Aisha Edwards, LMHC (xe/she) is a somatic trauma therapist and educator based in Vancouver, WA. She received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University and has concentrated on socialized oppressions, interpersonal violence, abuse and neglect in marginalized populations throughout her decade-plus career. Prior to private practice, she worked in community mental health, high acuity treatment settings and was an adjunct faculty at Portland Community College. She uniquely weaves Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing, early developmental movement, Neuro Emotional Technique and concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Herbalism into a holistic approach to mental health that fosters the primary relationship with the body as the vehicle to wellness, wholeness and connection.
