The safety of our patrons, artists, clients, and staff is a top priority at Portland'5 and we are excited to announce the launch of the touchless security screening system, Evolv, at our theatres. This new technology allows patrons to walk through quickly and easily, without having to stop, empty their pockets, or remove their bags. It can screen up to 3,600 patrons per hour at each station, so patrons can enter the theater quickly and smoothly.
How does it work? Evolv uses a combination of advanced sensors technology and artificial intelligence to detect weapons. The sensors recognize objects, and the artificial intelligence distinguishes between weapons and personal items. If a questionable item is detected, the system will display a red light and alert security personnel. The security personnel will review the image on the accompanying tablet to confirm the location of the potential threat. Patrons will then be directed to a secondary security table for additional screening. Guests with medical devices will have the option of asking for an alternative screening process.
Items that are banned from the theatres:
- Explosives, including fireworks
- Large knives – defined as any knife other than an ordinary pocketknife with a blade less than 4” in length
- Firearms
- Conductive energy weapons such as stun guns, and Taser brand devices and clones
- Aerosol pepper spray larger than 4 oz
