The story of our venues began in 1917, when Portland citizens opened the city’s first publicly-owned assembly center, the Municipal Auditorium. Since then, our city's performing arts spaces have grown and changed dramatically, but the love for community and performance that inspired that first venue is stronger than ever. Discover more about our venues - how they came to be, and how far they've come - on the individual theater pages listed on the right. You can dig even deeper on our History page.
