A Cross-Atlantic Virtual Women Duet by Iris Erez and Marjani Forté-Saunders

White Bird is excited to announce the premiere of a virtual duet by Israeli choreographer Iris Erez and California-based choreographer Marjani Forté-Saunders. This is described by the two artists as a “Cross-Atlantic Virtual Women Duet,” with the tentative title “Homework: Exercising Wombhood.” They continue with their description: “Multiply, bodytalks, looking for synchronicity, ferocity, and trust.”
This is a work-in-progress, lasting 15-20 minutes. A conversation between the two artists will follow the video performance.
The work, commissioned by White Bird, will have its premiere via Zoom on Monday, Feb. 15, 12 noon Pacific time/ 10pm Israeli time, and will continue to be available for at least ten days on White Bird’s website.
Iris Erez is a prize-winning Israeli choreographer/performer and teacher, based in Jerusalem. She was the guest artist professor in the Reed College/Portland, OR Dance Department in Spring 2017.
Marjani Forté-Saunders, based in California, is a choreographer, performer, educator, community organizer, and mother. She has been awarded residencies at Bard College, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Petronio Residency Center and The Yard. She toured with Urban Bush Women for five years.
