Youth Night is a youth-led night takeover of a Portland'5 theater for ages 16-25. This second Youth Night event will host the opening of a Youth Art Show, resource tables of local organizations, youth art vendors, a one-hour music production workshop by master artist Mike Firm, youth performers, including headliner JProdigy.

Workshop: Mike Firm

In this interactive workshop, we will learn about some introductory music production techniques and advice, followed by examining a spoken word poem by Mike! This will culminate in us creating a hip-hop song together; while Mike works on producing a random instrumental, the audience will collectively help in writing lyrics for him to perform.

J Prodigy is a breakout young star in the Portland hip hop scene. Her name comes from the fact she started freestyle rapping at the age of 3, like a child prodigy. Her first live performance was at the age of 9yrs old. J Prodigy performed at several events such as, the annual “PDX Pop Now” Music Festival, and also performed at “My Peoples Market” presented by Travel Portland and Prosper Portland. Releasing her first single collaboration and music video with Corwin Gold called “Animal Control” featuring Mic Crenshaw and the Oregon Symphony, the video has reached over 1.2k views on Youtube. J Prodigy is looking forward to releasing an Ep under her newly signed record label Unlimited Vibe Records.
